Unlike traditional dentures, which rest on your gums and rely on suction or adhesive, implant-retained dentures are anchored in place using a small number of dental implants.
These implants act as stable “roots” in your jawbone, locking your denture firmly in place.
This means no movement, no sore spots from rubbing, and no constant reapplying of adhesive – just the confidence to eat, talk, and smile naturally.
At Peacock Dental Spa, we take a fully guided approach to implant placement. Every implant position is digitally mapped in advance, and we use precision-made surgical guides to place them exactly where they should be.
The benefits? A quicker, smoother procedure, fewer post-op complications, and results that feel perfectly balanced and comfortable in your mouth from day one.
Before we start, we use CBCT (Cone Beam CT) scanning to take a highly detailed 3D image of your mouth and jaw. This lets us see bone density, nerve positions, and gum contours in incredible detail.
This step is crucial for accurate planning – it helps us choose the optimal implant positions, reduces surgical risks, and ensures your dentures fit securely and comfortably.
For you, it means a treatment process that’s smoother, safer, and more predictable.
Mike has been placing dental implants since 2011 and is skilled in both surgical and restorative work. His knowledge and skills base includes sinus lifts, full-arch bridges (including All-on-4), immediate full-arch loading, and fully-guided, flapless implant placement – an approach that can make the process less invasive and more comfortable.
He works exclusively with Straumann implants, chosen for their exceptional quality and reliability, and is currently completing Colin Campbell’s advanced third-year implant course.
With Mike, your treatment is in the hands of someone who combines technical skills with a commitment to giving patients a smile that feels as good as it looks.
Usually, 2–4 implants are enough for a lower denture, and 4–6 for an upper denture. We’ll assess your bone density and oral health to recommend the right number.
In many cases, yes – though it depends on their age and condition. We’ll let you know at your consultation whether your existing dentures can be modified or if a new set will be required.
We use local anaesthetic, and sedation is available for anyone who’s nervous. Most people are surprised by how comfortable the procedure is, and recovery is generally quick.
The implants themselves can last decades with good care. The dentures may need adjustments or replacement over time, but they’ll still feel far more secure than traditional ones.
