A leopard can change its spots. Thanks to significant strides in anaesthesia, sterilisation and decay removal, root canal treatment has undergone a glow-up.
As a dental practice championing the highest level of care and treatment, we don’t cut corners on using the most up-to-date equipment to treat you.
Root canal treatment treats dental infections that affect the living tissues inside a tooth. The process involves the use of a local anaesthetic to numb your tooth. We’ll then work carefully to remove the infected bits that have no business being there.
Once your tooth is infection-free again, we will place a filling or crown to fit over the top.
Root canal doesn’t just ‘benefit’ you, it literally saves you from needing an extraction, which means if your dentist has suggested it, it really is worth going ahead.
At Peacock, we understand the need for our patients to actually see the ‘why?’ that underpins the need for a suggested treatment. We don’t want you to feel like you’re being sold to, especially when it comes to a restorative and clinically orientated treatment like root canal treatment.
We use digital imaging technology to show you exactly what is happening in your mouth, so that you can feel confident casting the deciding vote about how you would like to proceed.
You won’t regret taking steps to save your tooth – here’s why:
The crown or filling we place will be a natural white shade that matches your neighbouring teeth. We’re sure you don’t need us to tell you that this can and will have a positive impact on your confidence.

Read moreWe won’t be disingenuous and say that there isn’t a mild level of discomfort associated with the root canal process; however, this is after the procedure, when your mouth starts to heal, and it’s very mild. This discomfort is completely manageable with over-the-counter medication, and the vast majority of our patients go back to work after their procedure with no problems.
We never like to give a specific time, as it really is all about the oral health status of the individual. Typically, it can take between 60 and 90 minutes to complete – some cases can take longer if the infection is severe, or there are rare anomalies.
